Culligan Cares: #GivingTuesday

As the holiday season begins, so does the season of giving. While you’re thinking about what to give your friends and family this year, don’t forget about your community. When it comes to helping those in need, every hour, dollar, and drop of water can make a difference.

What is Culligan Cares?

Culligan champions water and believes that every household deserves to have to clean, safe drinking water – especially those without access to it. Following the Hurricane Katrina devastation, Culligan International partnered with Convoy of Hope to deliver 5 semi-trailer trucks of bottled water to Gulf Coast victims. 2005 was just the beginning of Culligan Cares. Since then, Culligan dealers across the country have teamed up with local communities to help support charitable efforts. This means providing water, time, energy–virtually anything–that can make a difference for individuals, families, and communities in need.

In 2011, a Culligan dealer from California helped provide clean water to 1,000 refugees in Uganda after the wake of the LRA tragedies. After offering a triple match incentive for all donations, Culligan raised over $18,000 for the project. More recently, Culligan Cares donated over 72,000 cases of water to victims of Hurricane Florence. In partnership with Convoy of Hope, Culligan was able to deliver water along with food, generators, and other relief items to those in need. Through Culligan Cares, Culligan hopes to extend their reach to communities around the world and leave a greater footprint of generosity. This Tuesday, November 27th, you, too, can join in on the philanthropy by participating in #GivingTuesday 2018.

What is #GivingTuesday?

Beginning in 2012, the Tuesday following Thanksgiving was deemed a day of generosity. #GivingTuesday is about giving back to communities around the world and helping those in need during the holiday season. With the help of social media, global citizens are empowered to raise awareness about charitable efforts in their community. Last year, a women’s shoe company in San Francisco donated $10 per pair of shoes sold to a nonprofit working toward reducing plastic pollutions in the ocean. From Black Friday to #GivingTuesday, they raised over $50,000 in donations to support ocean preservation. It is stories like these that have inspired Culligan Cares to participate in this year’s #GivingTuesday.
