Problem Water Series: Total Dissolved Solids

Many problem water issues occur naturally. Have you ever come across rocks covered in white sediment? Seen little water spots on your car right after having it washed? This can be an example of total dissolved solids in your water, or TDS.
What is TDS? Simply put, TDS is the presence of dissolved minerals in your water, most often calcium, potassium and sodium. Although TDS is a natural phenomenon, it can still negatively affect the taste and quality of drinking water in the home; especially when it exists in high or low concentrations. Because these total dissolved solids are just that- – dissolved – they often are not effectively removed from water by some filtering techniques, which may only remove solids, chemicals, and sediment from water.
At Culligan, we offer several solutions to reduce TDS in water. If you think you have TDS or other water issues, Culligan has the testing capability, local water knowledge, skills and products to best address your water needs.
The Culligan Aquasential® Smart Reverse Osmosis System is one example. With its advanced filtration including up to seven stages of filtration and 14 filter options, the system is customizable to fit your household water needs. It’s certified to reduce 59 contaminants, including viruses, bacteria, mercury, PFOA/PFOS, arsenic V and lead, as well as 15 emerging contaminants.
If you’re ready to take the first step toward cleaner, safer, great-tasting drinking water, we’re here to help – just schedule your free in-home water test and consultation today.
